The save option is way better and much more organized in JJ.

You can change the params of an ENTIRE program at the same time. So say I chop a sample into 32 or even 64 pieces, I can apply the same gain, filter, tune, pitch, etc to each sample in the program at once. You have to do it for every sample. Right there you loose nearly 30 minutes of time depending on the amount of samples.

Chop shop is way faster.

Chop shop is also stereo.

These are just the main features that sold me on it. But there are tons more features that make it better than akai OS for efficiency and workflow. The OS is also stable!

NOT TO MENTION, JJOS IS THE ANSWER TO THE OP's QUESTION!

Oh, and the main screen looks cooler.

And you can have custom splash screens!

The same as a Pastor will tell you that Jesus is the answer to all of lifes problems, JJOS is the answer to all MPC 1000/2500 problems!

but the wakai os had me all fuct up with the new folder saving bug.. such a great feeling to be slaving away chopping samples for 6 hrs then going to save and FREEZE!!

Plus, tuning first only makes sense if you already know exactly what you want to do with a sample, which is rarely for me. And you don't have to buy JJOS. They have a free one that is very similar to the Akai OS but is better! Be open minded and give it a try. Don't like it? Put your Akai OS back on!

with the input button and then record with an filter!

Hmmm! Did you have a successful transfer from the HD to the computer before you reformatted? If so, I don't see how you lost anything. Unless you used cut and paste back onto the HD and the transfer failed. Before I format, I transfer to the computer, then transfer that to CF on the MPC, then format and transfer back to the HD!

Yeah, but then you lose flexibility and you're stuck with a filter that you might not want, or may need to tweak later. And you lose the original sound of the sample that you cannot go back to unless you resample. But hey, if that works for you, go for it!

no i dont do it like this i just want to say that you can do it.

i have my mpc since day one its out and i dont try any other os!

Personally I don't use Audio Tracks/Direct Recording so I can't comment on your problem but I have heard it mentioned by a couple of people so I believe it exists.

One other difference is the AkaiOS on the MPC2500 having Mute Track Groups, which hasn't yet been included into any JJOS. Personally it works the opposite way to what I would like to see anyway.
