new turntable problem

ok so i was tryna listen to my records yesterday and the needle works.. mixer is working good.. but when i press play, the turntable doesnt spin.. its a belt drive numark ttusb.. but when i push the record with the needle on it, the noise comes out.. i know its something with the turntable..

any advice?

the belt is prob snapped.

well its more like a thick elastic band.

u can grab those cheap though and change it yourself.

also to put it on is simple.

just lift the plate off of your turntable(the big silver thing) remove the old one and voila!!!

put plate back on and spin dem tunes man

I've got that turntable myself. I had to assemble that sh!t. Did you install the belt gently with the platter? By the way, change the stylus to a magnetic cartridge, your samples will sound way better than that stock stylus.

i believe the belt was installed already.. and yeah i put the platter on gently, would it be easier if i posted pics?

No need for pics. The belt does come installed but you gotta stretch it over to the motor in order for it to spin.

The motor is like a copper pulley and its located by the start/stop button. Stretch the belt from the platter and around that pulley securely.

And thats it.

I remember I had this tape player as a kid -- I was probably 4 or 5 years old (I know I wasn't in school yet). The belt on it would constantly come off and my dad would fix it for me.

One day it broke while he was at work so I went upstairs to his toolbox, got a screwdriver, took it apart, and fixed it myself. I was pretty proud of myself.

Damn, I remember I had a tape player too that I found at the local junkyard, and the back piece was missing, so the components was exposed but still worked. Intrigued by the mechanics I stuck my finger to the rubber band and noticed the change in pitch when I played a tape. So I began recording stuff off the radio while playing with the rubberband. The result was hilarious, it was like the Chipmunks colaborated with Evil Dead.
