Total Newbie on MPC5000

Well I've been debating if I should make the move or not from software to hardware (most people seem to migrate in the opposite direction), over the past 6 months, after trying out an MPC and being shown it's functionality in January, I became obsessed, but didn't want to make any harsh decisions.

After watching every video and reading every spec site, I went out and bought an MPC5000 today, not the ideal piece of kit for a person who is totally new to MPC's but after seeing how people kept using the same piece of equipment for decades, I thought it was a sound investment, especially with the built in Synthesizer.

Came with the first OS, so about to upgrade that, because although I've been using it for around 2 hours, I still encountered some bugs, actually several.

In the past couple of hours I've learnt how to sample to the MPC, but I'm still working out how to trim the samples and program them on,

Basically, I was wondering if there are any tutorials on the MPC5000, because the ones available are for other models, should I just get a 2500 tutorial and try to correlate between them? Because after watching video tutorials for other devices, it took a while to figure out how the same applications are implemented on the 5000.

Also I've been navigating this site, reading the stickies, expanding my knowledge on the matter, but still it seems there isn't an ultimate bible for the 5000 available yet, or is there? If so, is it worth it?

Seen that, but it stated that they'd be working on a book ASAP, a year ago. No progress?

wow a 5000 for a noob lol...you should of started with like a 1k or 500 to get a basic understanding of the mpc work flow then upgrade but thats just me.

another alternative from trial and error and RTFM would be youtube see how others are doing it.

I never own an mpc either and bought the 5000, good choice cause if you bought a smaller one you would be pretty upset to go and have to learn eveery feature that the others just don't have. plus you've got a hella bigger screen.

I also went str8 to the MPC5000
I dont have any regrets.

Good to know that no one has any regrets over the leap to the 5000.

DVD's coming out in a week, awesome.

I'm reading the manual and trying to figure it out, youtube has a couple of vids, but mostly about people showing what they did, not how they did it.

After figuring out how to chop up samples and assign them to pads and what not, and creating a couple of beats, as well as recreating a couple of sampled beats I had done using software and the APC40,

The MPC5000 is like music for dummies, anyone can make a sick beat in a matter of minutes, it's amazing.

But then again, a great beat can only be made by those familiar with the device, and musically talented.

Enjoying every minute of it, but excited to be able to create more refined beats, because using the ARP to me is kinda like cheating .

This is my first MPC also! Just keep a look out for MpC3500's 5000 tutorial DVD. His two 5000 snippet tutorials are very helpful, even the tutorials for the other models, give some tips on how to get around on the MPC.
