snare rolls

ok i know the MPC 2000xl doesnt have the piano note screen like the 2500 and others but i was wondering how u guys get ya snare rolls to sound like certian tracks out there where it rolls and the pitch of the snares drop...im not persay a snare roll producer but for some tracks it might nees a drop...listen to a few Gucci mane tracks if u dont know what im gettin at..

i jus wanna know do u do this on the MP or post production on your DAW like pro tools?

someone please help me out...kick me all the knowledge u got haha

Can you record a note repeat snare roll then tighten it up with the step edit screen? TBH, I NEVER use the step edit screen, I just record it raw.... Im sleeping hard on all the editing features of the xl.

Anyone want to post up some tips/exercises to do that will help learn it? I will RTFM, but maybe someone who has mastered it could run us through quick things to try out and practice to get the idea down...
