Eastern European diggs.. boom!
I'm moved from Brighton UK to Croatia about a year ago to escape the moody, smaller population of overly competitive diggers alongside the dumb overpriced prestige and flying dutchman repress fakes littering our smelly boxes. Even charity stores now are markin up records, because create diggin, has that fashionable element to it,
So even Oxfam, and the local stores in big cities near universities know the deal...
Hiding out at carboot sales at 7am on a sunday morning was a dedicated heads only survival...
It catches on..
Whatever. On my many intresting finds here, the name Boško Petrović turns up every now and then. Prehaps one of the biggest jazzers in the country, (active mainly from early 70s til early 90s) and if you dig jazz then he's like the Croatian Milt Jackson.Although unlike Milt he aint greedy with the solos and lets the other musicans on his records play, thus givin you ( the recycler) some good space to pick up some, tremolo style ringing noises from his vibes. Alot of the stuff, is so nicely produced that the resonance from the notes alone , can give you a fenders rhodes sound ..
If for any reason your over here and fancy a sniff, peep the Jugoton label(best pressings) and dont be afraid to take a punt on Neven Frangeš (pianist) or Josipa Lisac on the soul tip ..
Maybe this is useful for the old adventurous travelling diggers , if not then i'm sure most of you will just paste the name into ebay anyway ...
Like most obscure joints and OG''s the BP OG's , fetches good bucks in JP for the traders.
Good Luck..
