i'm assuming the no filter/fx situation is just for the beta?

Supported File Types: wav, midi, seq... hmm... what about .pgms? I guess, he will test the waters with this one and see, if it has any future, before implementing fx etc. But for now, I'm feeling like: do I need this? Especially because, I'd have to install or emulate windumb on my crackbook pro for it;)

I'm just waitin til it arrives to see what it brings to the mpc. Those videos don't exactly fire the imagination.

Same here. It might wel turn out to be a useful tool, but at the moment it's just as likely to be completely useless.

For those of us that bought the MPC1000 when it was first released - the original blue and red model - there was no such thing as a JJ OS. Now, there are a few different flavours.

Give the guy a chance with this sequencer software. Once released, constructive criticism will probably help to shape the software, as with the JJ OS.

lol !!!hahah...yeah i grow up with looooong loading times back then with the c64 with a tape drive...
im still intrested in this daw it is a nice adition to cubase ...
i see it as a nice tool for editing my mpc projects... i hope he could load mpc projects!! or maybe in the near future...or loading some vsti into the jj sequencer .
maybe getting some kind of NI maschiene..
imagine this
1)you start with a project in the mpc drop it into the jj sequencer as a project for example.
2) then in the jj sequencer you ad a bassline with trilogy ...
3) you save it again and the jj sequencer resample trilogy into the project.
4)you load the project in your mpc and have your trilogy bassline as a sample or audio track..

Speculation is pointless anyway. I'll be honest, if i only had jjs vids to go i probably wouldn't have bought jjos! As it is it's great and totally changes the mpc on fundamental level! So no doubt jjos will be **** amazing!

its not that, i just cant see why he is trying to re-invent the wheel, one of the major points about using an MPC is to step away from computers. And theres heaps of powerful software out there now anyway.. Man i started out on an Atari back in the day, so be careful about that 10 second bullshit, we dont get that MTV fluff in australia anyways.

i'm sticking to my theory: JJ has seen the end of the road as far as supporting himself off sales of the JJ OS. a lot of cats bought os 1, less bought os 2, even less still bought os 2xl... lets face it: us here on this JJ OS forum are in the MPC minority. we push the machine & the OS to it's limits. but for most folks it's the basic boom bap & that's all they need. OS1 is plenty for them. no need to go any further.

so JJ has seen his income going down and realized that the day has come that he is going to have to get another programming gig, a real day job... which means resumes & job interviews. it's not going to look too good on a resume if your only programming experience for the past 2-3 years has been coding an underground OS for an obsolete cell phone processor inside the MPC. there are FAR more jobs out there coding for windoze and JJ knows he needs something on his resume to show that he can do that.

the JJ sequencer is all about JJ padding his resume. he put it up for sale because it looks more official to a potential employer if your project is up for sale & hey, if a few people want to buy this thing then why not try to make some money off of it? but i honestly don't think he expects this to sell much at all.

listen to the man JJ himself: this is a "beginner-oriented easy sequencer." this thing is NOT for us. if anyone would be interested in this it would be someone who doesn't own an MPC, doesn't have a sequencer or a DAW, is new to the whole sequencer thing... basically, a hobbyist... or a 5 year old.

all you people thinking this thing will track out, or emulate an MPC in software, or have filters and effects, or expect JJ to update this for years and years and add a bunch of features to it are living in a DREAMLAND. do yourselves a favor & go download REAPER (which is awesome if still a little too buggy on the MAC) and stop expecting all this advanced functionality from a little toy. the less people pester JJ about this, the quicker he'll get back to updating the JJ OS.

You may really be on to something. Especially considering that he couldn't really put the JJ os on his resume. No one is going to want to hire someone that they feel may steel their code.
