what i want to start doing is have hihats with different decays and adjustments all triggered by the same pad depending how hard i press that particular pad

can i do it?
where is this located?
mode + pad 7. highlight the level field and hit window. mess with the velocity attack setting in there.
now velocity controlled decay is a bit more effort. honestly, if it was me i would just do the velocity attack setting i mentioned and if there was some decay i really needed to edit, i would set one of the qlink sliders to control decay and edit the sequence by overdubbing myself using the qlink slider while the sequence is playing.
but if you really need to set up velocity controlled decay the only way i know to really set it up is by simulting separate pads to one pad (say a1 for example). first set each pad to have their own decay settings. then on each pad set the velocity range so each one will only get triggered within a certain range (a1 set to 100-127, b1 set to 70-99, c2 set to 50-69, etc...) make sure none of the velocity ranges overlap and make sure the decay settings you set earlier make sense in relation the velocity ranged pads(for higher velocity ranges the decay settings should be higher, lower velocity ranges should have lower decay settings). now since all the pads are simulted to a1, hitting a1 harder or lighter will automatically switch to the pad whose velocity range matches, and you will only hear one pad at a time, each with different decay settings...
peace.
