MPC 1000 question

I am getting started with the MPC1000 and i wanted to know how i could set the MPC so when i hit a pad, it will only play the loaded sample for as long as i have my finger on the pad.
can anyone help?

yes, go to Program and scroll through until you see "Play Mode", go down and change it from "One Shot" to "Note on".
That's what it is on the 500, idk about the 1000, but it should be the same, or very similar.

i just got this mpc today. so excuse my ignorance. but uhh..i'm lost.

on my MPC1000 i pressed: Mode->Pad7(Program) and i did not see anything where i could select from play mode.
