seriously though you'll need to buy os2 to try xl anyway. so buy that , try xl ,see what you think, it'll depend on what you prioritize

wow, really? i see i'll have to take the plunge and get os2 and xl. i'm in need of better "chopping". so, i'll mess around with it.

thanks for the info!

the chopping on os1 is vastly superior to the akai os. (and better than the free jj, if memory serves me correctly)

in addition to this os2 and xl have a pgm mode which links the edit screen to the program screen, its really useful for sample editing/program building. theres a few other nice features in 2 and xl which help this process too: like one shot triggering in the edit screen, and quick pad copying

also just to correct what i said, the first thing you need is os1 4.99 installed and paid for, else you cant load the others. you can load os2 or xl from os1.
then if you buy os2 , the upgrade to 2xl is $15 not the full $64. the larger price would enable you to use both os2 and xl depending on which one you decide to install. total for all is $113.

buy os1 and see if it fits your work. if it does then you got off with only paying 50 to upgrade. if you need more features like non destructive chop then upgrade.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the help. I'm going to try OS1 this week and see what gives. I'll post the feedback.
