I cannot get midi drum notes to record into the digi002?

I followed all of the midi setup connections, input/ output setup instructions as listed in the 002 manual and my protools step by step guide book. I created a midi track and an aux track, set the input/output settings for both tracks. I have my headphones connected to the digi002 mixing board and I can hear the drum notes as I hit the pads on the mpc, but every time I try to record the drum patterns into protools on the midi track the drums notes never record. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

is wasting your time and money on Protools when you have an MPC. What is it that you're trying to do that you don't understand how to do on your MPC?
