sampling while playing a sequence

can any mpc4000 users answer me this simple question. i currently own a mpc2000 and this is how I work.

once i record a riff or bassline using my keyboard into the mpc using midi i then sample the riff/bassline into soundforge on my pc. i then edit the sample, save it as a wav file and put it on a zip disk to transfer it into my mpc2000.

i have to do this long winded routine as the mpc2000 cannot sample while playing a sequence.

what i want to know is - can the mpc4000 sample the outputs of my keyboard/synth while it is playing a sequence. so i can play the riff i've just recorded as midi and sample it into the mpc4000 as audio at the same time.

i hope i've explained myself properly.

any help would be most appreciative as this is one of the reasons for me wanting to upgrade from a 2000 to a 4000.

Yes it can, you have to have your keyboard's outputs going into the mpc4000 inputs and then go into record on the mpc4000, switch the input source to analog in and that way you can record your keyboard.

while playing your sequence?

Yeah, record while playing the sequence, no problem, man. and ya can start recordin' with a midi note too, so if ya use the same midi note to trigger the sample playback, yer sampled bassline plays in sync with the sequence.
Ya can also resample the main out to convert yer whole MPC beat into a WAV file.
