Dude, those pictures are awesome! Exactly what I needed - I think I have found the ideal mounting spot for the NDISK.

Can anyone tell me what that little board is that is located in the very back, just in front of the power supply? It looks like it may be a power filter of some sort, since it feeds the voltage over into the power supply.

Its the power switch board Its another differnce from the 2000xl witch have the power switch on the other side.

On this board is the power switch some capacitor and that bigger white thing (dont know what it is and cant look at it cause the MPC is put together again)

Haha, you know that isn't true. Just for the record, I spent a bit of money trying to get this going with no intention of profiting in any way, I just wanted to hook folks up with the idea. I couldn't quite get it right because I was using an IDE CF reader with an adapter and I ran out of money to keep testing out ideas after not getting anything to work. JD hit me up and was cool enough to send me a hard drive to test it out with, and it worked perfectly.

I'm satisfied now because I just wanted something that could load the OS without depending on crappy floppies. I have been to hell and back trying to replace floppy drives on my MPC. I generally just use the MPC as a MIDI controller, and I was getting frustrated not even being able to turn my MPC on without a working floppy drive/disk.

These kits will be awesome for MPC classic owners. I can say this with no financial motives since I have already received my compensation for the idea in the form of a working setup courtesy of scsiforsamplers.com, and credit for the idea, thanks JD! I really hope this helps some people out and possibly even gets some graveyarded MPCs back in action!

Ain't no thang - without this idea and all your help, I'd never had gotten anywhere. You and Shorty (SMC) and Lampdog have provided me with tons of help and I'd never have been able to get these projects going without that help.

I also need to give major props to zeusmajor, who has so many samplers and has always been willing to test on them for me. He and I are working on a top-secret project right now that we are about ready to announce and I know lots of folks here are going to be interested in this one...

Seriously, I do not understand what you are asking here. I have the statement because some of the S-series Akai samplers had an optional SCSI interface and I want people to know they will need to have the SCSI interface installed in order to use my kits, drives or any SCSI device period. You'd be surprised how many people see "internal cable kit" or "replaces the floppy drive" and think "great, I won't need a SCSI interface". This is especially true with ASR-10 owners, where so many of them do not have the SCSI board installed. I'm just trying to make it clear that you do need SCSI to use this stuff.

also i was wondering, where do you get the old zip drives that you refurbish? Do people send them in to you or something? i have one over here that powers up, but doesnt spin when i insert the zip disk. Let me know if you're interested

Sorry but repairing Zip drives is something I gave up on a long time ago. I'd always get them working again for about as long as it took for me to sell one, then it would fail again as soon as the customer started using it. This is one of the reasons we refused to sell Zip drives until just very recently. Not even Iomega fixes them - they just toss them and send you a new one.
