Im new, give me 10 good reasons to get an MPC

Im new to the mpc family, well not really, I want to get one after I heard of J Dilla and that he used it, but dont know where to start. What software/hardware/equipment would be needed in addition to an mpc to do the types of things that dilla, madlib, flying lotus do.

first off, what does an mpc do? i know its a sampler that you can make drum beats with, what else can it do?

alright, what sort of computer programs would i need, ive heard of logic, fl studios, reason, and pro tools, what are advantages to each one? do you know any other cool programs?

some more questions: what are the following, sequencer, mixer?

i think i what i would need to start producing is an mpc, a midi controller/keyboard, some sort of computer program, any thing else?

Any mpc will put you on the right path so decide what is best for you and take it from there. What's your budget by the way?

budget unknown as of now, but everything i need wouldn't be bought all at once, but i know im gettin an mpc, but i wanna know what else would be needed to really utilize and exploit the full capabilities of it.

Knowledge is the only thing you really need my man... and that takes time. Get an MP before anything else and learn it from back to front and front to back.

Seriously u dont want to buy equipment u dont have any knowledge about.
Also do u have any music experience? for me it sounds like you went from listening to j dilla, madlib etc. to want to make music with mpc cause uve heard em use it. But i dont know.. it just sounds like you jumped right of the boat from what i have read about your questions.
For me basics equipment for those who doesnt have much music experience is Fruity loops and a decent midikeyboard. U can use samples on fruity loops just like on the MPC. Its just diffrent workflows on the FL and the MPC.
But if u have much experience with music basics for me would be MPC, A good pair of monitors and if u want to track out on a software like pro tools etc. u will need a good audio interface/soundcard.

how do you actually get samples into the mpc, can you put mp3 files from your computer into it? ive seen it done by turntables in videos, but is thatt the only way?

when you finally get your MPC. it will come with a little book called the manual.

READ IT.

id just like to know if its possible to sample songs from a computer because i have a lot of music on my computer, but have no vinyls, sorry, i just wanna know as much as possible about this before i invest a bunch of money, call me crazy

also, does anyone know of any advantages or disadvantages of using an mpD as opposed to an mpc?

what about the mpd mpc argument, what are the differences?

mpc is a stand alone unit while an mpd needs a computer...

you also need speakers or (powered monitors)

you can sample everything under the sun (dvd,cd,mp3,tv,radio,people,life,vinyl,cassette, basically anything)

a sequencer is what is used to track beats out..

a mixer is whats used to equalize the sounds of the samples before they reach the mpc..

yea dude if you want to use sounds from your computer then i would get some of the newer mpcs which have usb ports, like the mpc 1000 that would be a good start, and a pair of monitors if you can sneak those in
