need help with...not sure how to word it

I'm sure there is a term for this, and I just don't know it. But what I want to do is say I hear a keyboard on a record I like, sample just a one note hit from it into my 1000, and then be able to use my midi keyboard to play the whole range of notes with that sample, know what I mean? Just one note recorded into the MPC and then basically be able to play my keyboard off that sample, using all different notes. Sorry if this is confusing, total noobness here and searching was tough because I don't know the term for doing this. Thank you!

u dont need ur midi keyboard.. just put the sample in the 16 levels.. read the manual

Chromatic Scale? I believe in the akai os you do it manually, but the jjos does this for you.

its not going to sound right like that. 16 levels stretches the sample down and speeds it up. which means that the lower notes will play longer and the higher notes will play shorter. this can be used to an extent but its better with one shot drum samples. even with the jjos2 in an inst pgm it starts to sound a little robotic if you dont have enough root samples of an inst to start with.

he said he wanted to play the recorded sample on his keyboard, so i would say that yes... he does need the keyboard.
