Hello All,
Below you will find a text tutorial which explains: Exporting audio files on the MPC5000.
There are two ways of exporting your audio files on the MPC 5000, either as separate tracks, or as a whole stereo .wav file. The instructions below are to help you in bouncing your entire mix as a stereo .wav file that you can have on a CD and play on any CD player.
1. Once you have all the sequences you want, press mode then “Song” (pad 15). You will then line up all of your sequences in the order you would want them to play in song mode. .
2. Once your sequences are organized, if you want to record audio tracks, press (F2) to go into record mode, arm the audio tracks that you want to record, you will be able to record 8 audio tracks. You need to use the (F5) and (F6) buttons to arm the tracks, initially it will arm tracks 1 and 2, if you want to do all 8, you need to change which tracks the record in inputs route to in this screen. For more information on recording audio tracks, please refer to chapter 8(pages 61 through 70 of your reference manual)
3. Once you are done recording your audio tracks if you have chosen to do so, you are almost ready to export your files. To have a good mix of your entire recording, you will defiantly want to mix the levels of your audio tracks, to do so, press the (F3) key to mix your audio tracks, you can use the Q faders to mix your audio tracks, you will need to use the cursor to highlight which audio track you will be changing the levels and panning. As stated before, chapter 8 goes into more detail on these features.
4. Now that you have a good mix, you are ready to export the file. You want to go back to the “Record” screen, press (F2) to get to this screen. Where it says “Source” you would want to highlight your cursor there. Next press the window key, a new “Mixdown” window will appear; in this screen is where you will choose to export your song as a stereo audio file. The most ideal settings to have everything record to your mix would look like this.
Mixdown Destination: Save as file
Filename: “mixdown01.wav” (you can name this file whatever you would like.)
Format: 16-bit WAV (if you choose 24, it will not be able to play in most CD players)
Sequence tracks: YES
Recorded Audio: Yes (unless you don’t want your recorded audio in the Mixdown) Effects: Yes
Mixer Automation: Yes
Input through: No (unless you want to do a live track while doing your mix.)
5. Now that you have your settings selected, you would want to press the (F5) “Do it” key. Once you press this, it will then ask you where to save the file, you would want to choose a folder to save the file to. Once you have selected the folder to export to, press the (F4)”Do it” key, your song will start playing in real time. You want to let the entire song play, and when it is finished, press the stop button on the transport. Once you press stop, the entire song will then start its Mixdown process and your entire song will be a .wav file that you can listen to.
6. Now that the file is saved, you want to go to “Mode” then “Disk” (Pad 3) then press the (F3) key for utility, where it says “Function” you want to have your cursor highlighted there, then turn the data wheel to where it says “Write audio CD”, then find the file you exported to a folder, once you have found it, press the (F6)”Do it” key. It will then add the song to the disk. You can do this multiple times so that you can have multiple audio files on your disk.
7. Now that you have all the songs you want to export to a disk, you need to finalize this disk. You would want to go back to where it says “Function” and change the function to “Write audio CD”, then select “(F6)”Do it” and you will have a finished CD!!
