ok i just bought my mpc. it should be here today and im broke as **** from buing it .. AND im gonna have to pay costums for it (because i in canada right now)

but anyways.. im wondering if i NEED a cf memory card or not to make beats ? i know im gonna need one eventually to save my stuff and all that shit.. but can i just hook my mp up to my pc and load sounds up that way? or do i need some sort of storage device..?

please let me know ..

(also) you guys no any places where i can buy cheaper versions of the akai cf cards?

Not in relation to your question, but out of curiosity...are there no places in Canada where you guys can buy stuff like that, so you have to import it?

Furthermore, it would help to state which MPC you bought. I assume it is a 500/1000/2500.

And yes, you need something to store your projects on. However, CF cards cost next to nothing nowadays, so if you have a couple of hundred dollars to spend for an MPC, there should be another $10-20 in it for a card. Later on you might want to add a harddrive. For the beginning you could even use the CF card that will be included with the MPC.

i just moved up here from minnesota and its **** gay.. you cant buy any akai products at stores around here.. its all korg.. who the hell wants to buy that shit.. (canadians)

i bought the mpc500 and it came with a small cf card. i didnt think it was gonna come with one (so i made his post) do they have hard drives for the 500?..

get this shit though bro...
brand new mpc's(500's) are $600 right..

i bought a slightly used one from a retailer... the total plus shiping was 520$ so i thought i saved 80 bucks ya know.. WRONG

customs on the mpc in canada came to 77 bucks..

talk about being raped.

I can hardly believe that, did you ask if they can get the products you want for you?

Hard drive for the 500...I don't think so, but the manual or the Akai website should help you with that.

And about the customs, the major part you pay is usually the VAT of the importing country, so you can usually guess in advance how much you are going to pay. It's a ripoff, because you usually pay the taxes in both countries, but that's how it is...
