Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Just got an MPC 4000 in the mail. Plugged him into my mixer, powered on etc. Referenced the instruction manual onhow to load samples, figured it'd be close to the same routine as with the 2000xl (had 1 of those before). For some reason I cant get sounds loaded? Also, I load up a kit thats on the internal memory and a sequence by the previous owner and go back to the main screen, I hit play and I can see the meters jumping in the lower r hand corner.......but no sound coming out? What am I doing wrong?

Either
1) When you load them on the load Mode, use the add pgm..then tap the pad you wold like to assign it to.
Or load them as you normally would through add and assign them in the program mode, followed by the F4 button
2)n In global mode make sure your db volume is set to 0db
and lastly make sure all your volumes (headphone and max volume are adequate..never start your machine w/these all the way up tho)...and make sure all your quarter inch cables are pushed in all the way if your using monitors
