1st post is to pay out the new os... how odd

I`m still having problems with the slice and sequence page my notes aren`t lining up correctly like before. i wrote to Akai and talked to Mr Nakamura of Japan about this. They said they will try to correct this in the next beta fix. I miss 1.51 original auto quantize, but I do love the fx gain and ease of the Misc page.

I feel 1.51w/1.52c much betta than 1.51. I don't wanna slices automatically quantized, I want the sequenced silces to play exactly like the original sample, ya kno what I'm sayin'?
When I make equal regions, the sequenced slices line up on the grid, no problem. When I tweak the regions, now they're just where they gotta be. Ya can do TC correct if ya wanna quantize'em.
I feel the new end margin at 20 thang. B4, I wuz always settin' it manually to sumthin' like 30 or 40 but 20 works just fine. When I set it at 0, the sequenced slices sound all choppy 'coz of the fades, but it's cool too when I wanna speed up the BPM, it don't overlap.

Can anyone tell me how to get in touch with the tech gurus in Japan > AKA Mr Nakamura.

We just want to make them aware of the urgency of this issue. Have tried all their email addresses on their support section of website without any response. At this stage I think it may be better to call them.

Can anyone shed some light?

Jake, I went through the same nightmare. I thought it was the new OS, but appearantly it was my drive. The MP won't recognize your CDROM because of the way the pins are set. The CD is set to be the 'slave' to the Hard Drive. If your drive has died, then it won't see he CDROM. I disconected my HD and pulled my CDROM, changed the pins to 'master' reinstalled and it was fine.

Your HD however is probably DOA. You will have to install a new one. I've been trying to warn people about the faulty drives that are installed in most 4K's. Data loss was something that always happened to other people utill it happened to me. I advise everyone who has an IBM Deskstar drive installed in their MP to bite the bullet and replace it ASAP. Not a question of if, but when.

I love my 4K, but I feel Akai really fu@ked me with drive situation.

I understand where you're coming from, I havent checked the mpc1000 forums much but it seems theres a few big problems with it. Just wanted to let you know that even t hough the mpc4000 might have good OS support right now there was a period of almost 18 months with non existant support and it could go 6 months between the OS updates. So hang in there and just pray it doesnt take 18 months for them to start working on the os for the mpc1000 aswell.

I love the audition function...worth the wait in my opinion...I just might wait on getting recycle after all...the slice function is workin' great.

I know AKAI is moving all of there offices including tech support to Rhode Island.

All the tech guys I've talked to at 1 800 Akai lost there jobs (and they in my opinion have always been helpful) ...but the guy I talked to yesterday was real positive about the future of the company even though he lost his gig -

he must have gotten a healthy parting package from them

Has anyone had a sync problem with 1.52c? I use sonar3 and everytime I sync the two, the mpc plays alot faster than it is suppose to, I had the same problem with 1.51t but was corrected in 1.51w.

I doubt that very much. It's a shame that they are out of jobs again.

No sync probs so far on 1.52c im happy!,is the 4k the master?slave?,timecode?clock
syncing?

The purpose of the Spin down or No Spin is so that the Hard Drive is not running all the time. This is very helpful in reducing noise when recording vocals in the same room as the MPC.
