MPC 2000XL Maintance Tips

Like many of you I want to preserve my mp for a long time. So far I like to keep my unit clean and dust free. I read about the LCD issue so I try to keep the unit on only for short periods of time. Guys share some of the things you guys do to keep your mpc shining and working in tip top form.

i made a protective case for mines...
i used a old sentary safe so if the lord decides to burn my house to the ground the mpc should hopefully be safe inside of that...hope i never get to find out if it'll work

the mpc fits in it perfectly and the safe is rock solid...i might be able to drop it out a window and it'll still work....i ain't trying that tho either.

Don't drink beverages or smoke around it. Put a dust cover on top of it when you're not using it.

I spray some compressed air to blow out any dust or sand from the inside.

i heard that blowing compressed air into it ain't good for it...ends up doing more harm than good??

i dont do shit. i just play on it, then turn it off and let it sit, repeat.

This thread is pretty much common sense. But you'd be amazed at how little some people have at times. So here is my 2 cents!

When you are cleaning the casing (Mine gets pretty grimey since I use lotion a lot), take it off the mp before rubbing it down. I know of some people who have broken buttons off by not removing it.

i just throw a towel over mines when im done.

Once a year I use a product called Contact Restorer. I open up the MPC and other gear as well, and clean all the PCB boards and interconnect jacks.

yeah, compressed air will only blow dust further into areas. Don't use the stuff.
