Midi out question

i am trying to control a external sampler on the mpc 3000 and the only way i can find to hit it with out playing the interal sounds too is to hit midi - 2 - local off

is there an easier way?

someone suggested on main screen to hit type : midi but that stops it playing the extenal source, when i have it on drum i get both sounds

hitting TYPE:midi should do it.as long as u are on the correct midi out channel
