man i just been into it heavy since about 1997 when i stole my friends dj screw tape....
i know ALOT of people that don't like screwed music but to me...it just sounds better...
i have to admit tho that part of me likes to jam it because it is uniquely texas...you know what im saying??? like that brand of music was started by us for us, and i just support it....i feel like if your from texas- you should LOVE stevie ray vaughn, zz top and screwed music....

but im not one of those guys that only listens to music screwed....i listen to everything, alot of stuff regular speed too...e-40, b legit, too short, jay z, 8ball mjg, 666 mafia, devin the dude, ugk....etc...

holy cow dude..you need to open ur eyes to some better artist...dont get me wrong..i use to roll on the regular and when i was rollin,,screwed was where it was at...but its like a fad...

i listen to more people than that...more music types than rap or screw...thats just a preference....and those artists i named made real music that still jams to this day...
as opposed to somebody like ja rule who maybe sold more records than devin the dude but nobody still jams him...
screw music has been around since about 1990...thats almost 20yrs and generally speaking fads don't last quite that long

Hey man...I feel you, although I listen to more of a general view of what underground hip hop is (and to be honest...whatever that is), I´m from L.A. and even though gangsta rap isn´t the most popular form of hip hop its more of a hometown connection. Dre, DJ Quik, NWA, and even the LA Mexican gangsta low rider rap is still real dope for me. It´s def. more of a something to be proud of...shit you can say the same thing to soul hip hop in Detroit, hyphy in the Bay Area, and Boom Bap in NY. And dont forget L.A. has Project Blowed.

Only a few States / cities can claim their own sound...

Its all good...you feel it, do it homie.

As for tips:
1) Keep playing EVERYDAY with your MPC...don´t be lazy. You will learn as you play.
2) Have fun and don´t be on this site too many times (unless your an admin or somethin)...be on your MPC.
3) Find your niche in the game and don´t be lazy...you gotta represent.

i haven't messed with my mpc but about a hr maybe total in the week i've had it...
im waiting on the "beat making on the mpc2kxl" guide....and i gotta get some samples too.

Remember if you wanna focus to be a sampler type producer...its all about diggin diggin diggin DIGGIN...its an art.
Don´t wait on any guide...read the manuals and do as much of it can offer as fast as possible...the guide is only a tool AFTER you master the basics...
