MPC & Micro Korg

Hey guys i own a Mpc 1000 and i love making beats on it, and i was thinking about buying a Micro Korg but i really don't know anything about midi. so when i connect those 2 with midi i can record the micro korg in to the mpc?

Yes.

Take the audio output of the MicroKorg and put it into the record in of the MPC.

^ this will work to sample sounds from the microkorg into the MP, but if you want to be able to use MIDI to link the two, you would hook it up as follows:

MPC midi out A - MK midi in
MK midi out - MPC midi in

then, set up a sequence and make one of your track set to midi A1 (that's midi input A, channel 1). The MK is not a mutlitimbral sound module style keyboard like the Micro X, so you will only need one midi channel for it.

Now, with this setup you will be able to record the midi information for a keyboard sequence into the MP's sequencer, just like you would a pad sequence. Then when you play your pattern back, the MP's sequencer will trigger back the same thing you played before on the MK (except possibly quantized).

So that means your going to need the audio output of the keyboard AND the audio output of your mpc going into your interface

if you have the latests JJOS upgrade for your mpc, you should be able to jam along on the keys and have your MPC sequence playing at the same time, all through the MPC's output.

and you couldn't do that without the latest jjos upgrade??

that video most likely does not help any of the questions preceding due to the fact that the mpc 2500 has direct record.

thanks. i have done this and it works. only issue is volume is really low on the MK. i tried hooking the audio outs of the MK to a mixer first and then to the INS of the MPC in hopes that the mixer would amplify the MK sounds and nothing. can you helpl with this? probably just missing one silly step. thanks in advance.

With this setup, you don't need to run the audio output of the MK to the MPC, but BOTH NEED their audio outs run to a mixer to be heard simultaneously. Claro?

Old thread, but I'm planning on buying a Microkorg too and I could not figure out how I'd get the MPC 2500 (runnng on the free version of JJ OS) record everything I play on the Korg.

Google got me a few answers but unfortunately I don't have a mixer or audio interface so can I run the Korg's audio out straight to the MPC?

Edit: I want to record the MIDI and the audio signal, not just the MIDI.

Anyone?
