Where are all the people that were asking for a sequence change shortcut? It looks like we got it, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned it.

After using it for a day, I'll say it's cool to have. But I'm not sure about using ALL PADS as the combo button-- seems a bit strange.

- You end up triggering a random sample as you change the sequence
- The shortcut doesn't seem to work at all when your on an Audio track
- Wasn't the point of this shortcut to be able to change sequences in Grid mode? Doesn't seem to work in there.

EDIT:
- The shortcut also doesn't work with the cursor on certain parts of the main screen, such as the mini-grid.

I think it would make more sense to have Shift + Data wheel activate this shortcut-- more along the lines of how Mode + Data wheel changes track.

Agreed, this could probably be easily changed too since Shift + Data wheel already changes sequences, but only in increments of 10.

Edit: The sequence field has to be highlighted for this to work....but still, shouldn't be a difficult tweak.

agreed.

the shortcut is useless because it doesn't work while the sequencer is running.
a hardware limitation maybe?

right now it just gets in the way. i've already changed sequences accidently when turning the data wheel & hitting pads. he should remove it or change it to something else.

anyway, shift + data wheel can't be used for sequence changing - this is already used for rapid +10 incrementing when changing any numeric value. a very common feature. too commonly used to be hijacked by the 'change sequence' feature.

better would be shift + arrow key UP/DOWN (left/right for simult seq).

but again, if this can't work while the sequencer is running then it's not much use.

I agree, he could take it off. Song mode is good enough for me.
(I need to start using this more any way)

I also agree with leaving the shift + Data Wheel feature the way it is.

I wish JJ could put loop mode back in XL and I would be content.

Hmm this sounds poorly implemented (this is actually the first I've seen the new OS is out as been moving house all weekend.)

As mentioned can not use Shift + Data Wheel as already has a function.

I think Mode + Cursor (either Up/Down or Left/Right) makes most sense as Mode is already used in combination with Data Wheel for track change and it's a similar function.

Hypothetically speaking, if I had 20 sequences and wanted to jump from sequence 1 to 20, it would be way quicker (with less button pushes) to do it normally rather than mode + cursor. We 2500 users have the luxury of modes being assigned to our numeric keys, so any spare button or pad + data dial is going to be the most efficient way of doing this.

I just think this function needs enhancing and not messed around with too much.

Well the Tap Tempo button does the exact same function... that's what I use. Is there an additional button on the 2500 as well? Probably...

No way. Think about it-- you will have to move the damn cursor all around the screen every time you hit the up button, similar to how a pad currently triggers a sound prior to doing the shortcut.

Fail. Honestly, I was never for this shortcut at all. Popping into Next Sequence mode and then back works VERY well for me.

No reason your cursor still has to move if you have the Mode button pressed so don't get your issue.

Tap Temp is a terrible idea as you're likely to change the tempo of your sequence by accident. This also rules out Note Repeat as buttons are shared on the 1k.

You should probably change your Tap Tempo settings to 4 taps, if you're having this type of problem.

For the cursor idea, you're talking about holding down Mode, Cursor up, and then turning the data wheel?

no. hold down MODE, then press ARROW UP or DOWN key.
the sequence changes (increases or decreases in value) and the cursor doesn't move until you release the MODE button. very simple.

another (faster) idea could be BANK button + data wheel.
say you are already on PAD BANK A & want to change sequence:

just press and hold the A button (causes no change to the MPC) & then turn the data wheel. a bit faster than the arrow keys as someone previously mentioned.

I agree this would be much faster. The way JJ did it is sloppy. However, why not hold next sequence and rotate the wheel instead? Makes more sense.

After installing v.1.15, the Sequence changes, when I want to change the sample if the sample/pad fiels is hilighted in MAIN screen... Is that what it's supposed to do – changing the Sequence, when I just want to change/browse through the samples via Data Wheel???

This is really bugging me out. Any Ideas?

but that would bring you into the NEXT SEQUENCE screen, which you might not want.
if you use a PAD BANK button instead, as long as you press the current bank you are on (the one already lit up) then you will stay on your current screen & nothing will change.

JJ's got to go back to the drawing board on this one. i'm sure there's a much better way to implement this AND to make it possible to change the sequence while the sequencer is running.

Bro you're triggering the shortcut by accident-- turning the data wheel while pressing a pad. I'm requesting to change this awkward shortcut, and suggest you do the same.

Overall I don't really care what button triggers the shortcut, as long as it's not my pads.
