Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I want to connect a cd rom drive to my mpc 2000xl through the scsi connector. What type of scsi cable do I need to do this and can it be purchased at a local computer store?

If your CDROM drive is like 99% of the ones on the market, it will have Centronics (CN50) connectors. The MPC2000XL has HD50 connectors, so you'll need an HD50 to CN50 cable. Those are available on the web in various lengths but at a local store, very unlikely. Not many stores carry SCSI cables and even if you find one that does, they usually charge ridiculous prices.

Ok the back of my cd rom is a dc50 connector. The back of my mpc has hd50 connector. Is that possible to have a cable that goes from dc50 to hd50?

scsiforsamplers, Is the cable needed to connect a standard external Zip Drive also a HD50 to CN50 cable? My MPC has a zip drive but I wanted to see what using an external zip would be like so last night I pulled it out of storage and I realized that the cable was different. I alway thought in terms of parallel port.

Is it possible that u guys could post a pic of your connectors so we know what your talking about
OR
find the SAME connector online and post it so we can see what you are working with?

That will help alot.

Peace look at the chart below, according to what you said you want to hook up a CD Rom to the MPC 2000xl, I have a similar hook up but I have a chain, my chain is CD Rom + Hard Drive + Zip Drive connected to my MPC 2000xl, and they work perfect. So you would need CENTRONICS 50 PIN FROM THE CDROM DRIVE TO HD DB 50 PIN (CLIP TYPE) Because the MPC 2000xl scsi is different than the MPC 2000, the XL scsi is improved and faster.

I hope that helped.

This wont help for 2000 user cause its wrong :)
MPC2000 use a DB25 connector not a DB50

BTW my external CD Rom drive got 2 HD DB50 connectors.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation, but I have a Mpc 2000
I just bought a cd/hard drive enclosure and I just want to make double sure I get the right scsi cable.
I've seen this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCSI-Lead-25- ... 20d2e015ad

The enclosure has a 'Centronics 50 pin (CN-50) SCSI port '
And the Mpc 2000 a 'DB25' according to the above information (definitely not 50 pin as described in the diagram, I counted them, 25)
Unless it is sort of describing them in reverse?
"for mpc" ... yeah I dunno.

It looks like the right type, the correct number of pins, but I know some are for printers, so is it imperative that it has the 'DB' as well as 25?
I just wanted to make sure.
Cheers.
