I spoke to the seller and he told me that it's in excellent condition. It's missing the manual though so I might need someone to point me to a site (or sites) where I can download it so I can print it out.
Besides owning an SU700 a while back (sold it on Ebay and went totally software by the way), this will be my first true sampler/sequencer hardware workstation. It was tough deciding whether to get the MPC4000 or the MV-8000. After reading all the heated debates between them both here and at FutureProducers.com, I finally caved in and got the MPC instead. Especially, at a price like that, it was a no brainer. If it turns out that it's actually buggy as some of the naysayers have been saying around, then I'll just turn around and post it up on Ebay and hopefully make a little profit on top of what I paid for it. But I'm hoping that it'll will do me well and live up to all the hype and good praises I've heard and read about it from you loyal MPC producers out there!
The MV-8000 had some bells and whistles (like Acid import, real time stretching, and those 8 audio tracks) that I sorta wish that the MPC had but in the end the features in the MPC (to name just a few - 4 MFX instead of 1 in the MV, more filters and lfos, 128 tracks available on demand, Aksys, able to use 100gig+ harddrive and being able to add in another USB HD, zip, or CDRW is a major plus for me) appealed to me more. Besides I plan on using the MV in conjuction with Cubase SX, Acid Pro4, Reason 2.5, and Recycle. So anything extra that I can't do in the MV will easily be accomplished using those programs and then sent back to the MPC for further processing and sequencing! I plan to use the MPC exclusively though and turn to to the PC when all else fails.
Keep in mind that although my PC is somewhat powerful enough to do all my work thru software, I'd rather not because I'm sick and tired of cursing at the computer screen every other day because of some unstable plugin(s) that somehow always manage to ruin my day by slowing down my system or crashing it altogether.
Some prefer software exclusively others like myself despise them to an extent.
I know it will take me quite a while to master this beat, but I'm willing to give it a try. Hopefully you guys and gals with some experience will give me some pointers when I get stuck. Alright later...for now!
