I just posted something about this below. It all depends on what your shooting for. My fav is the Jv series from roland. I getting ready to buy one my self, but I get to use one from time to time. I have a XV-2020, but you need a computer to open up most of its possibilities. So look around. You have rolands, korg, yamaha, emu which are the most popular.
