I don't care about "dumb and boring", I was just stating my opinion. How does that make me a dickhead? SMH.

Also, I don't see how removing the pre-made eJay-bit and making the exterior more aesthetically pleasing can be characterized as "dumbing down". Just much more appealing for real musicians. The first should at least be an option.

Most of the Roland SP line look like toys but "real musicians" still love them for their ease of use and creative potential. If you really don't like the aesthetics or inclusion of 3000 sounds then jog on, but at least wait for it to drop until you decide that it's wack.

I've never seen a classic piece of equipment as ugly as this piece of hardware, and neither have you. Old skool basic design is a far step away from this chrome plated shit, where components are added to the exterior for no practical reason. It's just plain BAD product design, that's really all i wanted to say.

if that's the case, then why don't you explain in exactly what way you mean by the word "god"?
i'm just very confused because for most people i know, even atheists, "god" is acknowledged as a word that pertains to religion.
just saying, "god is what you make it" is just too vague. why not just say "god is an ad-lib". it really doesn't go anywhere.

thats a little different. that's when you brought "right" and "wrong" into it, with all this "treat everyone nicely because it comes back to you" noise. that's when its no longer simply a large web of cause and effect. that's when you're forced to add an intelligent force to govern and measure the value of deeds/actions and their appropriate effects. just seems to directly contradict what you said about "god" being anything.

and yea, moogerfoogers and udu's are the shit. i've yet to play a balalaika, looks like it'd have an interesting sound.

I was looking at the Thang the other night and this thing is more of a drum machine with effects. It had MIDI in and out, headphone out and line-out, but the in was an XLR plug for a mic. Where's the traditional line-in to sample off some vinyl?

i was under the impression that they were going to add an XLR/stereo 1/4" combo jack...

Are you talking about equipment that was made 20-15 years ago? The looks of the "classics" as you put it, didn't make them so. It was the functions.

Aesthetics are going to change. While I don't personally like the looks of the Thang, I think it's foolish to expect all new companies to make gear that looks like it was made in '93. It's damn near 2010!

One thing I need to do is make a 4 or 8 bar sequence and copy and paste that a few times.

The 2kxl does this pretty quickly. Can you talk about similar features on your machine?

side wood panels for mpcs being the last thing being mentioned on this site of course...

point is I actually would prefer it if this new box had the old atari 2600 look...

but what would please me (and I suspect quite a few others) most of all is when people say "yes it looks different but the functionality is there..."

I agree, but to say that one piece of gear can't become "classic" just because of it's looks seems untrue and shallow.
