What's wrong with my MPC

Whenever I load my songs now all of them have a distorted and static like sound playing with my samples. Even when I record a new sound in to my MPC it has a horrible sound playin with the sample. I don't have any effects turned on so can someone please give me a general idea as to what might be going on

Could be your Memory. Try removing the added memory and use only the onboard 16MB.

bad ram

remove all ram, and test with just the stock 16MB

add one stick then test again


remove that stick then test the other stick.


buy some new ram from a reputable dealer.
there are a few on e-bay selling ram guaranteed to work with the mpc4000

I've seen many times that most of issues with MPC4K are caused 'cus of bad ram. My question is: do other MPCs also have so many problems with bad ram? I had MPC1K and skipping workflow it was working perfectly.

This might be one of the reasons Akai can justify creating and selling their own brand of Memory for their samplers

or it might just be a handwaving voodoo blether than people always superstitiously declare at the first sign of anything going wrong
