anybody bought sample kits off of ebay??

im interested in maybe buying that sample kit on dvds...i should be able to take the samples off of the dvd (via computer) put them onto a sd card and then sd card into the mpc right??
anybody purchased any sounds off ebay??? how did they sound/ where you satisfied?

I don't know if you can use an SD card - you'd better plan on using a CF card. SD cards don't have a good track record for working with any samplers. But the choice of media doesn't matter so much, since you'll only get 1GB of useable space from either type.

As for the samples, hmmm... looks like a heck of a deal, doesn't it? All those different instruments they say they have and multisamples no less, which is what you need with a lot of instruments to get a realistic sound. But if they were all that great, how come there is a market for high-end samples produced by companies like ilio, spectrasonics, sweetwater and many others?

I cannot speak to the quality of these samples, as I haven't heard them but be aware that you will be in for a good amount of work turning all those samples into programs. I'd suggest getting something like MCEditor (PC) or RS-16X (Mac) so you can set up the pad mapping and other parameters on your computer using a more visual environment than the MPC provides on its little screen. Save the programs and take those over on CF card.

And if you buy those DVDs, let us know how good they are, please. I'm sure there are some gems on there but I wouldn't expect too much.

Yes, a few of my customers over the years have tried SD cards and had nothing but problems. I recommend using only CF cards because those work 100% of the time. But if you have some SD cards and your card reader has an SD slot, give it a try.

Even though I've had no problems with SD cards in my XL, I never really liked them... they are too damn small and flimsy to be storing my schit on.

wow thanks cause i haven't been able to get my mpc to read any samples off the sd card....even tho its got a sd drive- i thought i might need a sd card reader or something.

compact flash....somebody was telling me that only the 1gb work on the mpc is there any truth to that?

its comforting to see that most everybody got problems with the sd.

Answer #27684 - Any size CF Cards can be used with the MPC2000XL but only 1GB will be formatted and used. That is a limit of the MPC operating system for removable media. Thank you for playing.

Yes, I have always owned SCSIforSamplers and I also own SCSI4Samplers.com as well, although I generally don't use that spelling and the domain resolves to SCSIforSamplers.com. There is also a guy on eBay selling under the username of scsi4samplers and that confuses some people but he is in no way affiliated with my company.

I originally sold Zip drives from 2002 to 2005 but I quit selling them in 2005 and didn't start back selling Zip drives until 2009. So I don't know if you bought one from us or that eBay guy but it doesn't matter - I was happy to sell you one the other day and I hope it is working out okay for you. You just can never tell about a Zip drive - it may work perfectly for years or it may die one day after you buy it.

The way I got into this biz is that I bought a Kurzweil K2000 and needed a SCSI drive. Now I have been a computer programmer since before most of you guys were born and I also know know hardware pretty well and when I looked around and saw that my choices in 2002 were Glyph ($1000+ for a hard drive) or eBay (someone else's used junk), I started thinking maybe I could do better and offer people a decent chice in the middle. Affordable but quality, built by a musician for musicians. So I started small, selling mostly for the Kurzweils (still the best selling line for us) and gradually built it up. We went public in 2005 and I am now on the Forbes list of the 100 most wealthy (and good-looking) people in the US. Thanks, SCSI!

where do you guys get your samples from??? besides off the turntable etc...im talking more like the samples already loaded on a disk.
