dumb to the rest of ya'll , but to me, misunderstood

if i'm gonna use a loop, im not gonna tell someone where it is, because then they would come out with a song with the exact same loop. but lately ive been messing with samples so much that you can't even tell.. but yeah, if i spend time finding things to sample, im not gonna give them away, unless the person just wants to hear the original song.
why even spend time dealing with people who are that unoriginal and want to make music that sounds exactly the same as yours?

I mean I'll talk records to fellow diggers/producers if we are cool llike that. But I can count the number of those on one hand...lol
The internet age has made some peeps lazy and not want to do the knowledge - pay their dues...
I admit I use the internet as much as the next dude, but that doesn't stop me from digging almost daily for the ill fire nugget loops and mad drama stabs among other things...

Well ive been to a point where im using multiple records for a beat. I like to sometimes say where my sources are so the work in sampling can be appreciated more.

I sometimes go back to old records i used and even I cant find the sample. When using multiple sounds and samples its more challenging trying to make every thing exist musically together. I like people to appreciate the work i did digging and putting everything together. Its to easy chopping 16 pads and rearranging them. Though i dont like giving giving everything up. My musical choice defines me and my style.

when hiphop started back in the mid 70's ,it was the thing to keep yuor records covered so no one knew what you had , it was a way to be the freshest original,
you had to break out something that no one had heard of before.

you need to watch THE freshest kids, that movie is history right there, you can learn alot from that flict if yuor a youngster in the last 15yrs to this game of Hiphop.

alot of this has disappeared , this is why rap is falling off cause everyone knows what everybody uses, everybody wants to use what he has and whathe used. everything done in the new generation , you need to work for originality, this needs to happen again to give some originality back to the music.
it's a big world out there and theres alot of records still untouched.

Ill agree,,, Dudes found out auto tune made hit records and now everybody wants that. 808s and some catchy hook, c'mon now shits played....Everybody wants that quick hit.

@ EDE: so true! There is no magic anymore cause there are too many infos on the net. People dont have to work for it anymore. If you are interested in samples from .....for example poland, all you have to do is search youtube, google and co and blogs and bam you can get everything from well known to rare shit. To me thats effd up. But on the other hand its nice to get all the infos about the artists and bands and all the background infos, bio, discogrphy etc.

Back in the day, I remember being told to go find the breaks/records on my own. Finding the records on my own was just another part of the competitive aspect of the culture. Searching out those beats opened my mind to more than just soul, funk, salsa, and rock. Having to take the time to find those records also carved out my own style or sound. Back then, if you copied someone's style of anything, you were labeled a biter, sucker, snake, etc... Biters and suckers were looked down on, severely. They couldn't come back with the wack ass reply of "don't hate". People had to put in the work on their own to develop their own style. If that style was wack, people would let you know, too. You couldn't tell them, "quit hatin". You stepped back and worked on yourself more. It was paying dues, building skills, etc.

Today, nobody takes time to learn on their own. Nobody tries to be who they are as an individual. Too many people are trying to follow the herd. Hip Hop culture, as a whole is suffering from this lack of originality and individuality. Too many artists sound exactly alike... Once common levels of skill have been lowered so people who couldn't otherwise thrive or succeed within Hip Hop, are allowed to call their selves "Hip Hop". Kids feel entitled to participate without proper training or acquisition of skills.

I'll talk about records with people who know records, but I'm not trying to let kids have it easier than I had it. You need to step up and build the character that finding things on your own does.
