deleting samples to free memory?

When you delete samples it doesnt free up memory for doing another sample. You have to turn the MPC 4000 on and off. Is this just the way it is.

Try actually trimming the whole sample from the edit screen, that should free tit up.

maybe you are deleting them from your pgm but not the actual memory? (i dunno i dont have a 4k i'll shut up now )

go to global mode. hit memory window - you can either delete entire memory, purge unused prog, or purge unused samples ...

Also in the gobal mode,memory page there is a operation: :defragment" ,this frees up the fragmented space in memory

what about defragment of the hd? is it possible? and if so is it advisable or is it better not to touch that dizzy deskstar at all?

thanks for the tips everyone. Ill try that defrgment thing . Dont understand it but if it works what the hell. On OT this week so I havent done anything.
