help..please be kind..lights on, nobody home

just came up on an mpc4000 for free..when I plugged it in, all the lights came and the screen came on, but no text on the screen and it just stays like that..

I opened It up, and everything seems to be fine inside..

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

lmao....on tha screen..there should be a knob...turn it from left to right..or vice versa..thats tha contrast
