I got my 60 back complete with 3.10 upgrade thanks to you PIMP! I appreciate you watching over her for me. I got the call yesterday, I'm going to treat her to a real nice custom job and never let her go again! It's funny, you never realize what you have until it's gone!!!

Peace,
D. James

Congrats DJames!!

What, did you sell it to him and buy it back? what's the deal?

Actually it was more of a 3rd party deal. I did an internship at this studio about 3 years ago and while I was there one of the engineers sold me the 60, but the floppy was dead. So I replaced the floppy and began to learn the machine. About 9 months ago while at the GC I ran into the other engineer who was working there. I told him about the 60 and he told me that was his MPC  . I had purchased a 2KXL and I felt bad about how the other cat had done him so I went ahead and sold it back to him for what I paid. (basically the price of the floppy plus $50) To make a long story short he got low on cash and sold the MPC to E. Magilakutti, who sold it back to him and he sold it back to me! There is a such thing as a happy ending.

I would not say lots of cheap 60's lately there all over the place you just gotta look...and I ain't talking about the internet.I got people in damn near every pawn shop in town when something comes available that I might be interested in they call me...Most of the time I can pick up stuff for a few bucks more than they bought it for.The MPC 60 I found had a sticker price of $699.99 I started asking questions until the girl said I could walk away with it for $300.i told her all I had was $250 and the deal was done.

Yeah I have Nuendo in my possesion but I've got to get some stuff sorted out as far as a computer and interface goes how is your setup working out with the E-mu and the Behringer converter? I'm looking at something like the E-Mu 1820 setup with a custom built computer just for audio.I am getting kind of antsy cause I fleeced some of my gear to get the money to make my production/entertainment company legal.Lawyer fees, filing fees bla bla bla it adds up pretty quick.I sold 9 beats to this cat and got $1500 and some publishing but everything had to be done through my boys company because I was'nt legal at the time.Yeah our setups will be similar I plan to just have my DJ equipment, MPC2kxl,Fantom sound module maybe a rack sampler and my computer.I figure with all of the plug-ins and other software I got I should be straight.

Not keepin the 60??????!!!!

By Earnest Magilakutti Thu Jul 29, 2004 6:57 pm
I have not decided on keeping this 60 that I got as is does not have the upgrade or memory. If I do keep it I would use it in conjunction with a rack sampler probably s950.Seeing as how I got it for next to nothing I may sit on it for a while and sell it at a later date.I've got a new 2kxl on layaway just trying to get my stuff together as far as having only what I want and need in my setup so that the focus is on making tight music not wishing I would have brought what I wanted in the first place. It will be MPC2kxl,Fantom,midi controller,E-mu 1820 and a nice PC running Nuendo 2.1,Wavelab,Reason,FL Studio not to mention my DJ equipment.I have been playing with computers lately and it's amazing the stuff you can make with some of these programs and then to be able to use Re-Wire to put it all together is pretty cool.I'm a samplist/Hardware guy to the core but it's nice to be able to have software production stuff(Reason and FLstudio)at your fingertips.I am trying to get everything in order for my move to Los Scanless so that when I get there I can work a job just enough to pay rent and living expenses and focus all of my time and energy into making it happen with this entertainment thing.
