Laws on Sampling

Just wondering what you can get away with without having permission from the artist you sample from. Can you take hits from the song? i would assume if you loop a whole melody or a singing part that you would need to pay somebody to avoid getting a lawsuit. Anybody know whats up on this? sampling anything from any record is illegal. that is law, that is the only way to interpret the law.


sample your sound and have some fun, don't worry about sampling legalities.

its not a crime to sample anything if your not selling it commercially. And even then there are loopholes that you can use to make money and not be legally responsible. But if your not selling any beats and your not making any money then sample away.
