dont have an mpc yet trying to decide if i want one

at the moment i have an old akai mpd24, maudiokeyboard, tacsam usb interface, fl8 producer edition, reason4, waves diamond bundle mastering plugins and lots of dope vinyl. i know how to create similar chopping and layering effects in fl but the sound quality of mpc is what i like. to me they just seem to right of the bat to sound warm and crisp. anybody agree? anyway i signed up to check out more mpc music and learn more about how they work. if you like also check out my music. im on some 90s hip hop styles.

your sound quality will be as good as your audio interface...numark mpcs are 16bits, 44.1khz...what you put in a sampler is what comes out. unless you start messing with sample rate ofcourse...

one of the goals of a sampler is to be as transparent as possible and not to color the sound


if you looking to upgrade your sound maybe you should look into upgrading your audio interface as opposed to getting mpc.

i understand what you mean. my tacsam usb says 24 96k and def sounds good but i still feel that to my ears it sounds "more digital" and an mpc sounds more "analog" that could jus be my ears. 24 bit may be just more digital and bright sounding rather than actually bringing more depth to warm freq. i dont know ive taken some classes but im no expert. your right about coloring as well. i have noticed that most vsti plugins have so much coloring they suck. i now use waves plugins cause theyve been industry standard for a while and they seem to be pretty accurate.

plus i want to have fun makin beats on some different hardware that im not so used to.

I think you need it if you are using and chopping a lot of samples like if your style is sampling.It will be a lot easier for you but if you don't you don't need one.

If you're trying to get that MPC sound, Akai used the same technology in their S-Series of samplers which sell for a lot less than their MPC counterparts. The hardware samplers run around a quarter of what their MPC counterpart costs...
