Damn! I got mine for like $1700 from Guitar Center. Actually it was around $1900 because of the 2 year extended warranty I got. But it was a christmas gift from my wife and she refused to buy it off ebay.

I bought my 2500 brand new for 1049 euros + 2 year warranty

That was like three months ago and prices on hardware are still dropping

got mine in april for 1200 new from ProAudioStar. might have been Bstock, as I had to send it back after 3 weeks due to the main volume knob dying. they replaced it. also did the $300 rebate for the month of april that akai was offering, so if that comes through (i have yet to see the check), it will have been 900 new.

was upgrading from a 1000 with JJ, and I have to say the layout and everything is wicked. i had a 2000 and 2000XL and it feels just as good as those machines (except the **** ridiculous data wheel), which is why I had wanted to upgrade in the first place. pads, screen, and buttons all nice and spacious and quick to work on.

got ram for 20 on ebay (through fouriersean- always has stuff up there), and stole an 80gig drive from a dead laptop.
