Upgrading Ram... Where's the old 2mb Ram board? mpc3k

I'm on a topic roll today. I guess it helps take my mind off of the sad day losing MJ & FF.

My MPC now has the Standard 2mb board with the 2 1mb simm card upgrade totaling 4 mb. That might have been sick for '94 but that's not working for my sonic anti symphonies. Obviously the 2 16mb simm boards is the way to go and they are already in the mail.

I've heard it's best to remove the OG Ram board when upgrading to 32mb to avoid major problems. Is this true and if it is, where is that board?

Yes, the expansion board is to the right of where the SIMMS go. Make sure you remove that if you put 32MB of SIMMS in there.

Don't get rid of the expansion card. In the event you pick up a S2800, S3000 or S3200 sampler you can use the 2MB Expansion card inside those.

Just upgraded. The old ram board came out easy with the removal of one screw. Went from around 21 sec of stereo to 180 something seconds. Wooo!
