Cheap MPC Parts

Just thought I'd pass these findings along. Parts are original ALPS brand.


Replacement buttons $0.26c

Data wheel $1.47 -shaft length will need to be trimmed, also this version has a collar which may improve lifespan from side to side wobble. the data sheet lists the short shaft version which would be a direct replacement, but i couldn't find a part number for it.

Ram 128mb for $8.20 shipped -from Hong Kong took me a week and a half to get it.

hey
i am currently upgrading me mpc500 and have found a bunch of 128mb ram for sale for well under $10. will it all work or are there specifications for the ram?
i notice that some is pc100, pc133 etc ????

the RAM link to Ebay brings you to a RAM card off not 128 but 256MB. Would this one also work on the MPC???

Of course it'll work, don't be ridiculous.

The MPC will read only 128 though and the rest is a waste. But at that price, its worth it.

did anyone notice that -apart from the space where you stick the RAM - there is some other place on the main board that has exactly the same 'holders' for RAM? It even says 'memory RAM' or something like that on the board. It looks like if the MPC 5000 was made to hold two times 128 Mb...maybe I should stick the RAM module in there to see wether the MPC 'sees' it

Akai will have to create a new OS so that the MPC can read more than 128 RAM. No matter what it'll only read 128.

I'm still waiting for someone to mod a hard drive on that IDE looking slot by the ram.
