Disk Drive problem

I installed a DVD RW/CD RW yesterday and when i power up the machine, the light on the drive lights up but i cannot save anything onto a disk. The machine says that there isnt a drive present. Any body know how to fix this? Is there a driver i need to download?

Is it the one from Akai or what kind is it and where did you get it from... Supposedly, only the ones from Akai will work

this topic has been on mpc-forum several times. someone wrote something about deleted ide-pin on akai CD-M25 original drives. According to the answer from NorthernElite that trick doesn't work with MPC5k. I was planning to insert an old cd-dvdrw drive, but gave up after this answer

So where did you guys buy the drive? How much????

total..disc-drive and upgrade to 192..round about 2200 euro's
