MPC 60mkII plus s3000 or s3000xl

Hello from cold (but now temperature +34C in my town))) Russia.
I want to know how knock into one my mpc60mkII to rack akai samples (s3000 or s3000xl). How does it work? I do not understand the principle. I think that you can only manage s3000 using mpc as a controller. That is, we have a "mpc 3000" alike and 60 not workin like 60. May i send drums to s3000 processor and beat up samples recorded in s3000? How i may do it? Only on computer seq or not?

I know that my english is very far from perfect, but I hope you understand my question.

The S3000 and S3000XL are both midi devices and the MPC60 can controll up to 4 midi devices at the same time (hence the 4 midi outs).

So the way you can have S3000 or S3000XL hooked up is the same way youd have ANY midi device , either if its a sampler, sound module or synth.

The sampler that you will choose (s3000 or s3000xl) depends on what sounds better to you.

I never owned an MPC3000 so I cant tell you with certainty which one of these sound more like it.
There is a thread somewhere in here about that.

Now, when you sample stuff into the sampler (s3000 or s3000xl) the principal is THE SAME.

Each sample has to be assinged onto ONE key. C4= one sample C#4=another sample and so on.
YOu can do this by assigning the same note on low note and high note.
This is because the pads of the mpc60 correspond to ONE midi note each.

Make sure you assign each sample to play as ONE SHOT or PLAY TO END just like it would if it was a MPC60 or MPC3000 sound.
If you chop a sample and assign it to pads/notes in this fashion make sure you set the polyphony to one so that each sample cancels the other.

Thats the basic stuff you need to know if youre gonna do basic stuff with this setup.

It would be better if you posted something more specific about what you are going to do.

Well, thats the case if you connect each device (sampler) directly to the MPC. But thats not the only way. There are 16 MIDI channels and you can connect it "the serial way" MPC MIDI OUT A -> Device 1 MIDI IN -> Device 1 MIDI THRU -> Device 2 MIDI IN.
You'll have to set each device to its own MIDI channel (for example: device 1=MIDI channel 01, device 2=MIDI channel 02) so every MIDI Track on the MPC with the setting MIDI OUT A01 will play the device 1 and every MIDI Track set to MIDI OUT A02 will play the device 2 and so on.
So actually you could route 64 MIDI Tracks to 64 different devices (4 MIDI Outs x 16 Channels). But I guess noone ever used that much And of course there will be 'some' timing issues caused by the ultra long way the signal need to go thru the 24th device or so.

Yea thats another thing you can do, I just didnt mention anything about it since the mpc60 already has 4 midi outs, plus i didnt want it to sound complicated to him.

Lets not push him into software beatmaking... LOL

I don't understand what about SEQ? Where i may sequencing my tracks? Only on pc, or not?
And how i load mpc60 samples to 3000xl (drums, for example)?

Hmmm..

from what it looks like forget everything you know. It wont help you. It will only cause confussion to you.

You sequence your track from the MPC60. You dont transfer drums from the mpc60 to the s3000xl sampler. You sample drums on the s3000xl. Leave your computer off, get a bunch of vinyl records, have the manuals near by and start bangin beats.
If youve been a software beatmaker for a few years you should be able to understand this. Software is a virtual enviroment and hardware is a real enviroment.
What you have learn in software applies here but only if you really knew what you were doing with the software.

Question not about software or hardware. I choose hardware.
The question is: how i may sequenced beats on s3000xl on mpc 60 WITHOUT computer. And, if it possible, with mpc 60 drums.
It's real? Or i need amiga computer and special software?

MPC60 is a monster of a sequencer.
first of all, forget about the s3000xl.
Just sample drums on the MPC60 by pressing SOUNDS and then SAMPLE A SOUND . choose it with the numeric pads.
Do you have the newest OS on the MPC60? V3.10e?
Some commands are not numbered the same on the newer OS.

Anyway, sample some drums, edit them, assign them to a pad,, then select tempo on the MAIN SCREEN then pres REC+PLAY and start playing your drums.

Its simple as this.
If you dont know what the MPC60 really is, sell it to somebody who would really need it.

I wouldnt mind stacking on in my closet for when im 50 or something...

I need s3000 for filters and effects.
And i know how to working on MPC 60

Yea ok I agree, bu first youd have to get into the MPC60 workflow so everything feels smooth for you to wrk with.

THEN you can use the s3000 instead of the mpc60's sample engine.
