Loading Sequences from Memory Card Issue

Hey Everybody!

I just recently got an MPC-500 so I've been spending every chance I get trying new things with it. Recently I discovered how to make my own Programs, and multiple sequences by copying and pasting other sequences and modifying them. I saved these to my memory card, their are about 5 of them. My problem is, now when I power on my unit I immediately clear all Sequences, so i have a clean platform... but when I try to load those 5 sequences I get about 2 and on the third I get a message that says

CPU Addr (read)
PC(884b0660)

and from there I have to reboot the unit. Has anybody ever experienced this?

step 1: Check your OS. If it is other than the latest one (1.31), upgrade the OS (skip step 2).

step 2: If OS is up to date, then some sequence data might be corrupt. Reformat your memory card using the MPC (make sure you backup your valuable data somewhere before doing that).

step 3: try reloading your sequences and if you can load them successfully, re-save them.

there is a chance that some of your sequences cannot be restored though (be ready too face the music, so to speak).

Also, read the part of the manual that explains how to switch Autoload function on/off and how to replace the Internal memory contents (this may solve your problem with having an empty RAM every time you boot the machine).

First thing i did was made sure I hapd the correct OS loaded. I may reinstall it just in case afterwards, but i will try your other suggestions first.... such as reformating the card and reloading the sequences. I did see a few other posts of people who had similar problems. Lucky for me I am just starting out so my sequences were nothing too elaborate... just a kick snare and some claps.

At work now but once i get home I'll reply with my results.

Most welcome dude! There is a chap here on this forum, Eimer, who is a real expert on that. Check out his posts too, I remember he was consulting people affected by this kind of bug. Earlier versions of MPC 500's OS had a lot of issues, one of which resulted in the corruption of sequence files...

Ok, so I came home to find that I'm a total idiot. I guess my guitar pedal board has the same size jack as the one that I use on my MPC. Lucky for me the voltage on that is a 10 and the MPC is a 12, otherwise I would have probably killed myself. I still think I could have done damage... but on a brighter note once I used the correct jack it is no longer giving me that problem. I guess it really needed those 2 extra volts.
