MPC 2000XL discontinued

I went to guitar center today to cop a 2000Xl and they said AKAI is no longer making them. He said that musiciansfriend bought the last batch that was made and then that it forever, so that AKAI can push the 1000 and 4000. that sux i'd never buy a childs toy like the 1000 and the 4000 is too dam expensive.

I don't buy used gear, never will I need to be the first to use it or I feel it's cursed.

Well whatever... That's a shame cause the 2000XL is a beast... I would never get the 1000 or the 4000... The 4000 is more than most people need or no what to do with... And the 1000 is too dependent on a computer for my liking...

yeah yo the 1000 is hot, u can make beats fine with it. but u can get deals on used gear like a mofo. This dude from the forum is sellin a fully loaded one for 8 sumethin with effects and outs and all that. Swissmaster cheese.

used gear got character not curses. These machines are very rugged and durable and if anything is wrong with them they can be fixed for not crazy prices. I bought mines used and never had a problem yet. A lot of cats on the forums get em off the bay and never seem to have problems.

yup a childs toy, smaller pads, no zone edit, effects are garbage, cheesey knobs, expensive media, the O.S. SUX, dropping notes, clicks on samples, and it looks like fisher price made it! Like I said a child's toy.

no just some lame o cats think its wack cause they think that a 4000 will make them the next just blaze. The 1000 is a fine piece of production equipment. It might not be what u need, but it aint a $800 toy. That shit is an ill box. It has rugged sequencing, sampler, effects, the pads are fine. U can make hot beats on fruity loops. Its not a toy-just not as full blown as a 3ooo or 4ooo. If u got a pc buy it. If not, dont be so premadonna and just buy used like everyone else.

thats why the 1000 has a usb port. use cool edit or some waveditor. or reycle. the whole point of that thing is to have a pc studio that has hardware ish but mainly is for the pc. Or djs to bring groove box ish to there sets.

Beijin I feel you on the "opening the box and pulling it out" ish... But with machines as rugged as these the thing is that they can stay in perfect shape for years and years and years.. Unless the previous owner didn't know how to keep it in shape of course...

But you shouldn't downtalk the 1k. It maybe isn't what you want, but it mos def is a nice box.. There's lots of stuff in it that I would love to have on my XL!!

I doubt that it's true, here's an email I got from Akai on the 16th of July about the MPC's:



We have a vertical line of MPCs, MPC1000, MPC2000XL, and MPC4000. None of these products was meant to replace the other.
If the MPC1000 or MPC2000XL don't fit your applications then we offer the most powerful MPC ever in the MPC4000.

Could it be that they got confused with the transition from White MPC's to the new Blue ones?

Or it could just be a case of Guitar center employees talking out of their a$s!!
