you automate the levels in your sequences. Mix Automation is really dope in the mpc.

Naw Dove don't worry about the MPC, all the MPC has to do is record the MIDI from the 01v then play it to the 01v.
You would just dedicate one of the tracks on the MPC for just that data.
So when you would move the faders etc on the 01v the MIDI info will be recored in the MPC and then when the sequence plays back it will automate the faders etc on the 01v.

can the o1v be used as a control surface for protools le??? automation, panning, mutes, ect?? is it as simple as making the right midi settinds?? i know the o2r can control protools.

what i want to do is. dump all the audio tracks from my gear through the o1v, then use the o1v as a control surface to mix the audio in protools. i have been doing some research on the net and find that this can be done with an o2r. just curious if the o1v can do this. is it a matter of just making sure the midi messages are recieved correctly??

You can do it but you have to manually create a template and even then it will have limited control and not be bi-directional.
For all the effort and what you actually end up with it's not worth the headache.
This was why when Yamaha came out with the 01v96 they used HUI emulation since making a functional 01v template was more trouble than it was worth to them.

mutes, solos, pans???? will i only be able to control the faders?

By ntalec Fri Jul 30, 2004 2:58 pm
You first will only be able to use the 01v in MIDI remote mode, which makes it basically a controller only.
You then have to go through and assign and write Hexidecimal values for the faders and mutes to match the Pro Tools requirements, you can get the values from the Pro Tools "MIDI Controller Guide"
It starts to get annoying because of the way you have to map the values out but you will be able to do 16 channels by telling Pro Tools that it's connected to a JL Cooper controller.
That's a simplistic explanation but it gets to be a real headache when trying to build and configure the Hexidecimal mapping of the 01v and Pro Tools.
It will be one way control, meaning if you move a fader or something on the screen the 01v will no longer match it's value.
Example if a fader was set at 5 and you moved the 01v fader the fader in Pro Tools would follow it.
If you move the fader on the screen the 01v doesn't know that it's moved.

ntalec, what about the mutes/solos.? can those be mapped also. and the transport functions, which wouldnt be that inportant to me.

just convert dem songs to seq's, then use the step seq to put in your mixer automations. ( using the mpc's internal mixer ) you can automate fx sends, pan, levels, and outputs.

Yeah, it's possible to control til 16 faders in PTLE but also mutes and solos,my 01v is set this way, select jl cooper templateand do a little research on the net to get the midi patch for 01v...
Ok it's fun, but faders don't follow during ptle playback since it only works in one direction, so impossible to have a corret automation...
SO, HAS ANYBODY IN THIS WORLD MANAGED TO MAKE PT le SEND BACK AUTOMATION TO 01V, THIS THE REAL PROBLEM!!!
