Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

i am researching into this mpc business, probably will buy a mpc2000 within a couple of months. but i have not been able to figure out the memory process. i know that each mpc has a certain amount of hard drive space, but im pretty sure u save sequences and what not on disks. If i got an mpc i would NOT have a computer around by it so i couldnt store the files on its zip drive, but does the mpc already have a disk drive on it? and if it does, how much space will a regular disk hold? (by how much space i mean, how many samples/sequences) again, i am very new to this, and i would truly appreciate if someone would explain the memory process to me. i think i will get an mpc with a zip built in, but i dont want to pay the extra money if its not necessary. HELP!

the mpc does not actually have a hard drive. it just has RAM, which means when you turn it off you lose everything so that's why you need to save on a disc. the mpc does have a disk drive. it uses standard floppy discs so that means you have 1.44 megabytes per disc and that's not very much storage at all. it's best to get a zip drive.

Definately get the ZIP.

I didn't (to save money) then 2 months after getting my MPC, I decided to buy a ZIP (which cost me more in the long run, and I had to insatll it. UGG!)

Zip drive all the way. Save you money and a headache, initially.

Yo man get a zip......believe what we are tellin ya. A floppy just aint worth the hassle. Pay the extra 100 bucks from the start and get it already installed. I did and i havent had any probs.

Easy

bite the bullet and get the 2000xl studio and max out the memory to 32. You can get rom, but its expensive and with a zip drive you won't need it. I bought the 2000xl and ended up adding all the shit that comes on the studio. I coulda saved a butt load if I had done it up front.

You need the zip for your mental well being.
