Im not an expert on the internals or in electronics - however if you don't get an answer here I suggest you try to contact someone at mpcstuff.com. They do a whole load of replacement parts and possibly may know what they issue is.

thanks mate.

Does anyone know if this is likely to be a hard problem to fix, the F3 button seems fine from the feel, but it is not working atall. It means i cant use the params and alot of other functions. Any one had this problem?

no worries happy to help.

well before you open the box up i'd suggest re-installing the operating system, just to make sure, all you do is get a cf card - copy the image over and power on the unit (I think you have to hold the WINDOW button down - but the instructions will confirm that).

If you still get it - this will confirm that the issue is in hardware not software.

As long as you're careful - I reckon you should be ok - I've seen loads of pics of 2500's opened up around....

Well, before doing anything, I'd talk to that guy who sold you this buggy machine. That sounds like it's nothing you don't notice before selling it.

Thanks for advice people, its all sorted now, I worked out it was the tact switch but didnt want 2 do it myself JIC. - got put in touch with a guy who knows alot about fixing these things. I gave it to him and had it back in less than 24hours and it only cost £25 + he gave me a new CF card, just 4 the hell ofit.

yes there is..

the advice I was about to give seems to be the overall outcome he ended up with.

If someone is handy with a soldering iron and has a few bucks, most fixes are pretty damn easy.

however if a unit is under warranty I would not attempt self repair first.
