hi there. apolagies for the long post. I am new to the mpc world and am trying my darndest to figure out the mpc 2000xl (before you go directing where this should be posted, I have also posted in the 2000xl forum, I'm just trying to better my chances of receiving help).
I would appreciate anyone's suggestions or helpful advice; I don't know what to do. I have read the manual and have programmed a few beats, but don't know how to make things as intricate as I like.
my biggest problem is 3.5 floppy disks. for a test, I tried saving some 16 bit wav samples of the classic roland 808 kick onto a floppy. I eventually got some of the sounds to load on the mpc, some didn't, and I have no idea why. I tried with a different disk. first I loaded it into the mpc, formatted it, and then put it into my computer and tried copying the same wav files to the mpc formatted disc. my computer then told me that I had to format the disc; so now I have no idea what to do.
I'm totally lost. I have so many questions to ask about the machine and it's capabilities. I've heard that maybe getting a zip drive would be better for loading sounds, but I have absolutely no money. I would be grateful if any of you could give me a screen name on an instant messenger and just chat one on one. too many questions for one post. I've been a drummer for over 10 years, rhythms are my life. I have faith that the mpc can help me create some interesting percussive pieces. the only thing keeping me from creating is the technological aspect. thanks if you've read this far and I apolagize once again for the long post.
