For me the best route for you would be the route I took not so long time ago. I analized every MPC specwise and I was looking for things that are important for me. I found nearly everything on MPC4000 and I wasn't wrong. Older MPCs are less user friendly, but I can say MPC4000 is very comfortable when you get used to it (my friend got 2000XL so we was comparing). If you have hard time deciding between 1000 and 2500 then I would suggest 2500.
IMO it is way better to take some time on collecting information than buy something on rush and not be happy about your decision.

Hey shimmy, all that was useful information.

I'll deffinitly be taking some time to continue getting answers, and doing research.

My gear love really wants to get a nice new shiny MPC 2500. My mind is telling me to go with the MPC 1000.

I guess wiki wouldn't be a bad place to start for me : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_Production_Center

Once again - Thanks for all the answers, im learning much. and it's helping guide my research. Just learned what the mpc 4000 was, I think that's a bit out of my league :P haha.

Hello all again, I am really considering buying an MPC for christmas.

I came back to this post and was shocked to see the prices had actually gone up for these machines!! Why !!

Now the mpc 2500 (which I really would like) is 500$ more then the MPC 1000!

Does anyone have opinions or places to buy new MPCs for me?

Mpc 1000 vs Mpc 2500 what would you do?
