MPC60 Marion SCSI / FAT

Just ordered the Marion Systems SCSI interface to be installed in the 60.
I'm planning to replace the internal disk drive by a SCSI-->IDE adapter and
finally a IDE-->CF card adapter. This configuration works perfectly in my
EMU Ultra sampler.

My questions are: Is any form of FAT format supported?
Can ZIP disks (or CF cards) which have been formatted with the 60 be read on a PC?

I'd prefer to use several small CF cards 64MB size or smaller, instead of ZIP disks.

I don't believe you will be able to read those disk on Windows without Translator, MPC Editor, Total Commander or Awave Studio. The MPC60 uses a non-FAT file system.

Let me know if I can help you with any SCSI hardware for your MPC60 after you get the SCSI Interface.

MPCEDITOR will create a "SINGLE SAFE CROSS PLATFORM TRANSFER PARTITION".

This point above has been discussed in detail on this very forum.

TOTAL COMMANDER would need a plug-in coded to handle the MPC60 disk partitioning scheme. ( this may have been done in the past by some one )

AWAVE STUDIO can only read and write to native supported formats. Whilst AWAVE STUDIO supports the actual file system of the MPC60. The MPC60 disk partition scheme, however; is not supported.

TRANSLATOR ? I believe may have support in development for the native MPC-60 disk partitioning scheme ...

The MPC60 and MPC3000 use a more or less standard FAT12 file system.

The proprietary part of this is the disk partitioning scheme.

i higgghly recommend scsiforsamplers. anyone who has a scsi card and a need for storage for an mpc60/3000 should immediately speak to this man. i have an internal NDISK hard drive and an external 100mb zip drive, both from him and they are solid.
