Hey fellas,

Here is my days worth of no sucsess...Jus got my mbox2 with pro tools 8 and i have been pullin out my hair tryn to sync it up...I have research dif places and read..I obviously am doin sumtin wrong an can figur it out...

I have a mac...I Have been going all sorts of ways with midi in midi out aagghh...From what i understand the write way is in on the mp and out on the mbox/interface... sync beat clock on mp...made my added midi connection...as far as i can get is pressing play on pro tools and it triggers mpc but sound....

Could anyone comunicate with me if you have a similar set up and fimilar with pro tools 8 and help me get this sync...

Okay. I have PTLE 7.4 on a 002, and an MPC2000XL (the outputs of which are going into a Yamaha 01v desk). Here's how I sync my setup...

The MIDI out 1 from my 002 is connected to the MIDI in 2 on my 2000XL.

In PTLE, I then enable MIDI Beat Clock on the MIDI out that is connected to my MPC (Setup > MIDI > MIDI Beat Clock). This tells Pro Tools to send a MIDI clock signal out of the MIDI port to the MPC.

I then tell my MPC to listen for a MIDI clock signal on its MIDI in 2 port by pressing MIDI/Sync, setting "Sync In" to 2 and, and changing the mode to MIDI Clock (I don't bother turning on MMC or chaning the "Shift early" setting).

Once this is all set up, pressing play on Pro Tools' transport starts my MPC automatically. The tempo reading on my MPC also shows "Ext" to indicate is being controlled externally.

Hope this helps.

well maybe you know this but it is a common mistake people make...

midi cables only transfer commands (causes the stuff in the mpc to get triggered) it does not cary any sound or audio at all... you still need the audio cables connected to the mpc also to hear the stuff being triggered.
