Still the only real solution after all these years. Amazing but true.

I had one. Still I prefer software. And with the dedicated controller operating Maschine feels like operating a hardware sampler/sequencer. I agree with b-righteous though the software needs to be developed further.

being that it is software driven then updating it further is the future and will happen.
I think this is gonna be a killer bit of kit

What if you could have both a standalone unit like a portable MP and an APP like BPM or Machine combined?
Best of both worlds....

You just keep pointing out the 960 ppq resolution in every post you make.
Keep in mind that most beatmakers use quantize
Tools:
MPC 2000 Classic
Stanton ST-150 x 2
Vestax PMC-06 VCA

We have one set up at Guitar Center in Memphis where I work (yea don't hate I just work there for fun and a discount mostly)...
It's pretty bad ass how you can work with it without even looking at the computer screen and it seems very flexible as far as sounds are concerned. The unit is a bit cheap feeling though and the pads don't feel anything like an mpc's pads but they are very responsive so it's ok.

Well, i have one of this NI boxes. Its cool. Diferent of a MPC ("SERIOUS?" HEHEHE) but, in fact, i think that the guys copied all the MPC way of make music and added the software power. Its very cool to play live. You can make beats WITHOUT LOOK TO THE COMPUTER anytime, its amazing. I dont like computers. Its easy to slice samples, easy to use the cool efx to play live, mute and unmute everything, etc, etc, etc... very intuitive, like an mpc.
The problem: to play one or more projects of your Maschine on a live act, you need to run your stuff on a Ableton live or something... and starts to look to the laptop... shit!
The guys needs to do something about it.
I loved. Some advantages if you compares with a MPC... hmmm... Better, just... diferent caracteristcs on a very similar way to make beats.
But, i think that i will do a live act with the MPC4000 and the Maschine. Its cool. I am working on it.

Value for money wise....the Maschine is over priced. The on board library is bound to be 90% rubbish (i.e if you make hip hop there will also be a lot of trance, house, whatever type sounds that you will never use).
These machines make sense in theory but until the price comes down I will not be splashing out.
I tried the AKAI MPD at the music shop yesterday. The pads were very stiff and cheap feeling (compared to the MPC100). The unit was about $750 aussie dollars which is a bit much for a glorified midi controller when an MPC1000 is about $1,200.
In any case I started using my MPC has a midi contoller for Addicitive Drums and it works great. The MPC gives you so much more compared to any if the pad controller products. Now if the MPD was 200-300, it would be a good deal for people getting into beat making.
